How much will my custom cake cost?

Handmade, one-of-a-kind custom cakes are detailed and time-consuming by nature.  Single-tier cakes begin at $175 for a 3-layer, 6-inch cake (serves up to 14).  Two-tier cakes begin at $275.  Cupcakes are sold by the dozen and begin at $60/dozen. Size, complexity of design, sugar flowers, fondant figures, 3D sculpting and all customization affect final prices.  You will receive a written proposal with a price quote before finalizing your order.

What cake size should I order?

What is the difference between a cake layer and a cake tier?

Cake layers refer to the inside of a cake.  Our standard cakes are 3 layers of cake sandwiched with 2 layers of buttercream or a preferred filling and covered with a coating of buttercream.

Cake tiers refer to the number of cakes (typically of decreasing size) stacked on top of each other.  A two-tier cake is typically two 3-layer cakes stacked on top of each other.

Do you deliver?

Yes, we offer delivery for a fee, depending on distance, beginning at $25.  Pickup in Berwyn is always free.  Delivery is strongly suggested for all cakes 3-tiers and larger.

Can you accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions?

Jenny’s Cakestand is not an allergen-free bakery.  We do not offer vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free options. All ingredients are processed on the same equipment.  Products may contain or come in contact with dairy, wheat, nuts, soy or other allergens.  It is the responsibility of the Client to inform Jenny’s Cakestand prior to the confirmation of the booking of any allergy issues.  While every precaution will be taken in the cases of known allergies, it remains the full responsibility of the Client to inform guests of possible allergies.

When should I submit my order inquiry?

Inquiries should be made through the Order Inquiry Form as early as possible.  Our baking calendar often fills up 4-6 weeks in advance.

What happens after I submit my Order Inquiry Form?

We strive to respond to all order inquiries by email within 3 business days.  We will respond letting you know if we have space available on our baking calendar.  If we do, you will receive a written proposal outlining the details and design of your order as well as a price.  We do NOT provide sketches of designs.  At this point, we are available to answer questions or make changes.  To book the order, we require a 50% non-refundable retainer paid by Venmo.  All proposals are valid for 10 days from the date of issue.  Note that we will not reserve your date until after the deposit is paid.

Is my deposit refundable?

No.  All deposits are non-refundable.  For cancellations with more than 10 business days’ notice, credit may be given for a future order.

Do you make cookies, cake pops, and chocolate covered pretzels?

No, we make custom cakes and cupcakes.

How many flavors may I pick?

For single-tier cakes, you may choose one cake flavor, one filling flavor (if preferred) and one buttercream frosting flavor.  For tiered cakes, you may choose different cake and filling flavors for each tier, if preferred.

Can I request a flavor other than what’s on your menu?

No.  The cake flavors, filling and buttercream options on our menu are tried and true. We’re happy to make suggestions as to which flavors pair well!

Question 14

I have a photo of a cake I like.  Can you replicate it?  How do I send it to you?

Accepted Answer

We encourage you to submit inspiration photos through our Order Inquiry Form.  We can use these as reference and jumping off points for your cake.  However, each cake artist has her own style so we will not copy another’s work.

How do I pick up my order?

Weekend orders are available for pickup in Berwyn, PA from 8:30-10 a.m. only. Detailed pickup instructions will be texted to you the night before.  Weekday orders are available for pickup by appointment only.
